Richard Sullivan qualified in medicine from St Marys Hospital, Paddington and trained in general and urological surgery before moving into research. He then undertook a PhD and post-doctoral research in biochemistry at University College London before moving to industry as a Medical Advisor in the divisions of radiology, interventional devices and oncology. Richard was Executive Clinical Director at Cancer Research UK until 2008, responsible for the management of extramural clinical research portfolio as well as clinical policy development in areas such as research governance (including Good Clinical Practice), data protection and human tissues. He is UK Director of the Council for Emerging National Security Affairs and Visiting Professor at Kings College London as well as a member of the Kings Health Partners Integrated Cancer Centre.
