Ali Hodge - The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK

Ali Hodge speaks to ecancer at UKONS 2019 in Telford about a debate session at the meeting on what improves patient safety most.

The debate had four speakers representing research, education, policy and a local leader. Hodge, who predominantly works in clinical practice, was representing the role of a local leader in the discussion.

She says that the debate for her is about reinforcing that nurses are the key people for patient safety as the human face of the NHS. She stresses that having a lack of nurses will result in poor patient care and safety. She discusses the problems causing the shortage of nurses and how this can be tackled.

Hodge explains how this impacts oncology nursing and her work in acute oncology.
