Dr Alex Adjei talks to ecancer about being awarded the 2012 Drug Development Research Professorship at ASCO 2012 and plans for research using the awarded grant.

The professorship, which is given to a researcher who is known for mentoring and promoting research with junior researchers, allows for the development and research of a drug from the lab to the clinic.

Dr Adjei’s team is researching a single agent in combination with other chemotherapies and radiation therapy. The agent, CBLB502, aims to trigger an immunological response by mimicking the flagella in bacteria, using receptor pathways and battling the side effects of radiation treatment.
