Prof Wolfgang Grisold - Medical University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria

Prof Wolfgang Grisold speaks to ecancer about his session on pain management at the MyKE Myeloma virtual meeting 2021.

Prof Grisold starts by discussing what kinds of pain cancer patients experience, and how these can be distinguished between, before giving some examples of how to communicate with patients about their experience of pain during and following treatment. He talks about the types of pain syndromes that can occur after therapy and what kinds of pharmacological interventions can be used for pain treatment and management.

Prof Grisold concludes by advising patients on how to approach pain in patients, reminding them not to necessarily think of their pain as cancer pain and to take time in identifying the cause of the pain.
