A FOCUS ON EFFECTIVE INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

This year’s Summit will take place soon after agreement has been reached at the United Nations on the new sustainability goals which replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Much of the success of the MDGs has been due to exceptional international collaboration.

We are hopeful that the inclusion of cancer and the other NCDs in the new sustainability goals will produce the same result for these other diseases.

Against this background, the 2015 Summit's will focus on 'Effective International Collaboration', including the potential to improve collaboration in three dimensions:

• Across country borders,
• Across disease groups and
• Through public private partnerships
