The Department Molecular Cancer Research, formerly named Physiological Chemistry, is part of the Division Biomedical Genetics of the University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht, The Netherlands. The aim of the Department is to train the next generation of biomedical scientists and medical doctors by performing internationally leading, fundamental biomedical research and by offering stimulating and education. Research focuses on molecular processes in the cell, including signal transduction, mitosis, chromatin and gene regulation, by biochemical, genomic, proteomic, cell biological and systems biological approaches. Basic insight into these processes will provide vital insight into human disease such as cancer. The Department participates both in the Bachelor program for Medical and Biomedical students and the Master & PhD program Cancer Genomics and Developmental Biology
