Dr Roberto Orecchia talks to ecancer.tv about a study looking at ways of optimising breast treatment after surgery. A study, carried out in Milan, has been comparing partial breast irradiation and ELIOT (electron intraoperative therapy) with whole breast irradiation. Results from the study have identified a group of patients for which partial breast irradiation is an effective alternative. This group of patients could represent 20% of breast cancer patients.
