Professor Eric Deutsch talks to ecancer.tv about the use of the antiviral drug, cidofovir, as a radiosensitizer in HPV related tumours. Cidofovir, when treating HPV positive cells, has been found to decrease the level of HPV related oncoproteins and increase the level of tumour suppressive genes, resulting in an increase in radiation response.
