Prof Benjamin Anderson speaks to ecancer at the 2019 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting about the Breast Health Global Initiative.
His discussion is part of the Global Cancer Leaders series.
He explains that the aims of the organisation is to develop breast care guidelines for limited resource environments, including low-middle income countries.
They have achieved this by identifying the base level resources required for improving outcomes.
This provides a framework for doing gap analysis in early-detection, diagnoses and treatment of breast cancer.
Prof Anderson says the next step for the initiative is to work with academic, governmental and industry partners to focus on implementation.
