Prof Annamaria Colao - Federico II University of Naples, Italy
Prof Annamaria Colao speaks to ecancertv about Cushing’s disease; the causes of the disease, who is most susceptible and the difficulties of diagnosis. Cushing’s disease is very severe and associated with a 50% mortality within five years. The only approved treatment is surgery followed by radiotherapy but this treatment is only effective in 50% of patients. Prof Colao discusses drugs that are being investigated as possible treatments for Cushing’s disease and the need to raise awareness of this problem.
