Professor Ashley Grossman - Barts and the London School of Medicine, UK
Professor Ashley Grossman speaks the treatment options available for aggressive pituitary tumours. These tumours are difficult to identify and are primarily treated with radiotherapy or radiosurgery. Existing chemotherapy regimens have had limited success; however there have been promising results suggesting that temozolomide could be effective in some patients. Professor Grossman discusses the possibilities for therapies targeted at the inhibition of mTOR with rapamycin analogues (rapalogs) or the inhibiting EGFR in order to slow tumour growth.
