The introduction of screening for melanoma has been suggested as a way of increasing early detection rates for myeloma. Some research has indicated that screening for melanoma is expensive and produces relatively small increases in detection, but early results of a large German study have suggested that screening can indeed reduce mortality rates in melanoma. The panel talk about the merits and drawbacks of screening, discuss the importance of education to the prevention of melanoma and explain why education must be targeted at not just the public, but also GPs and people working within the beauty industry.
