Three senior doctors have been celebrating awards in the UK New Year's Honours.
National Cancer Director, Professor Mike Richards, received a Knighthood while researcher Professor Valerie Beral, head of the Cancer Epidemiology Unit at the University of Oxford has been made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her services to science. Professor John Burn, a clinical geneticist at Newcastle University, has also been knighted.
