The American Society of Hematology (ASH) has launched a webpage containing resources for haematologists caring for their patients and continuing important research amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (www.hematology.org/covid-19).

The curated ASH COVID-19 resource page will serve as a hub for daily updates to help guide the haematology community through the uncertainty of this global public health threat.

In an update to ASH members, ASH President Stephanie Lee, MD, of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, said, “ASH has developed a mechanism to help share useful information about the novel coronavirus with haematologists…it is a way to crowdsource materials and tips on caring for our patients and for one another.”

Resources on the page range from federal policies affecting medical practice to specific guidance for treating patients with haematologic conditions like sickle cell disease and blood cancers who may also have COVID-19.

The page also links to updated peer-reviewed research about the intersection of haematology and the virus and provides tips for those who need to shut down their laboratories amid the outbreak.

Through a form on the webpage, ASH asks members of the haematology community to request information or materials they will need as the landscape of COVID-19 rapidly changes and evolves.

ASH will continue to actively monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and offer updates about adjusted programming, new resources, and other emerging initiatives and efforts to support haematologists and their patients during this challenging time.
