Dr Sandip Ganguly speaks to ecancer about his new article on the multidisciplinary management of ovarian germ cell tumours in India.
He begins by explaining that ovarian germ cell tumours are some of the rarest ovarian cancer malignancies making up about 3-5% of all ovarian cancers.
Dr Ganguly outlines how this study was carried out, with researchers collecting data from the electronic medical records system before using statistical software to analyse.
He reports that the majority of patients presented at an early stage and were treated with chemotherapy with good survival outcomes.
Dr Ganguly however adds that, as this is a curable malignancy, toxicities as a result of the chemotherapy must be observed and managed.
